Don first came to North Carolina in 1987 while serving in the United States Air Force. He has lived here since and has his residence in Leland for the past 17 years. As a past County Health Director, Don continues to follow health issues in the area, especially as they regard to clean water.
Don has a Registered Nurse Diploma from Marcy State Hospital School of Nursing, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Psychology from Park University and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Texas, Houston.
Don served in the United States Air Force as an enlistee from 1963 to 1967. After getting his nurse diploma he returned to the Air Force as a commissioned officer and served until 1993 retiring as a Lt. Colonel.
Don has been married to his wife Carol for 47 years and together they have raised three children: Greg, Christie and Matthew. He is an avid outdoorsman who loves to hunt and fish the local area. He keeps himself in great physical condition while enjoying his tennis outings three days a week.
